Oklahoma’s L-Smooth Mensah and Continental Cudd, also known as Favored by 20, have been a duo for a minute now. I first listened to them (as a duo) when they released their 2020 basketball themed single entitled “ScoreBoard”. And, just in time for the the 2022 NBA Playoffs, the duo recently unleashed the track and visuals for their single “Opening Tip”. The track is funky and highly energized with L-Smooth and Cudd exchanging a barrage of on point, thematic bars and punchlines. And the visuals, which were shot in a gymnasium, don’t disappoint with keeping up with visions from the arc. However, you won’t see L-Smooth Mensah or Continental Cudd sinking any 3-pointers instead they employ a Young Basketball King (just call him Trey) in the making who excellently displays his ball handling skills along with a few clips of some notable NBA players.
